The McKinney -Vento Homeless Education Program is designed to support Region 4 districts and charters as they strive to meet the unique needs of students experiencing homelessness. Our Education Specialists provide LEAs with training, technical assistance, and resources for identifying and serving homeless students in accordance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

The McKinney Vento Act’s Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program is the Federal program that removes barriers to education for children and youth experiencing homelessness. The McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless as children lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate residence.
