VIDEO The 86th Texas Legislature (2019) passed House Bill 3906 which addresses several components related to assessments, including the STAAR ® Redesign.
The STAAR ® Redesign includes:
- Transitioning to all online testing by the 2022-2023 school year;
- Adding new item types and capping the percentage of multiple choice items;
- Incorporating cross-curricular passages to assess new reading language arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS);
- Incorporating evidence-based writing;
- Participating in a Through-year assessment pilot; and
- Offering interim and formative assessments.
Region 4 provides on-going supports around the STAAR ® Redesign. We offer various professional development sessions or customized contracts to meet the needs of our customers.
