About Us  ·   For LEAs  ·  Services  ·  Community Partners

One

We believe in
total communication.

The Region 4 RDSPD respects that the deaf and hard of hearing community is both culturally and linguistically diverse.  As a result, the philosophy utilized throughout the program is one that demonstrates student choice.

two

We believe in
early intervention.

The program is based on the belief that all communication options that are available to the family should be explored in an unbiased and neutral manner so that families can decide what is best for their children.  Upon choosing a communication mode, instructional options for children turning 3 years old will be investigated and implemented collaboratively.

three

We believe in
equal access to English.

The RDSPD strives to provide high-quality instruction in English for grades PreK–12, with particular focus on receptive and expressive English language development for all students, regardless of their chosen communication modes.

four

We believe in
 specially designed instruction.

By utilizing appropriate, holistic communication assessments, the program is able to deliver individualized instruction that aligns to each student’s unique communication needs.
