Engineering Design Process (EDP) Quick Reference Guide - NEW!
Engineering practices are embedded in the new science TEKS, but what does that look like in a science classroom? The Engineering Design Process Quick Reference Guide is an easy-to-use instructional resource designed to support teachers as they plan and facilitate engineering design challenges in the science classroom.

The guide provides:

  • an overview of the engineering design process (EDP),
  • planning and facilitation supports for each phase of the EDP,
  • “look fors” intended for instructional observations, and
  • reflection questions for students and teachers.

Science 2021 TEKS Charts - NEW!

Adopted TEKS 2021: Implementation 2024-2025

Each TEKS Chart is a foldout with pre-punched holes that fits into a three-ring binder. All of the science TEKS, including both science engineering practices; recurring, themes, and concepts; and content are captured in one place. Highlight TEKS by unit or reporting category. Easily examine vertical alignment. Educators have been known to hide, cherish, and highly value these easy-to-carry foldouts even if they own more than one!

TEKS Charts can be ordered in packages of 10 for elementary (K–5), middle (grades 6–8), or high (grades 9–12) school.

The updated Science TEKS Charts have a notation on the left-hand black margin that says Adopted 2021.

Detecting, Confronting, and Replacing Misconceptions in Elementary Science

This new resource from Region 4 Science is designed to help teachers discover and work with students to reframe their thinking about specific science concepts. Each of twelve misconceptions includes three parts with the following goals:

  • Detect activity uncovers the existence of any potential student misconceptions.
  • Confront activity creates cognitive dissonance between what is believed and what is correct. This forces learners to evaluate their thinking.
  • Replace activity offers strategies that engage all students to solidify new thinking.

STEMulating Design Challenges in Science... a guide to implementing design challenges in the science classroom. This resource provides background knowledge on the necessary skills and concepts needed to help students prepare for the future. It covers the basic components of a STEM classroom, guidance on how to use an engineering notebook along with how to implement the engineering design process using facilitation questions and sentence stems to support student growth and achievement to successfully complete design challenges.
