The Principal as Instructional Leader Certification program is designed to assist aspiring leaders who are dedicated to improving student achievement and developing teachers’ instructional practices.
Candidates may enter our program while completing a master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Candidates must be enrolled in the last semester of obtaining their degree when applying to our program.
During the yearlong program, candidates will engage in instructor-led coursework and earn 160 hours on a TEA-accredited campus during a supervised practicum. All candidates will undergo a background check prior to being admitted into the program.

Principal as Instructional Leader candidates must successfully complete two state certification exams for the standard certificate. In partnership with the University of St. Thomas, candidates may pursue a 30-hour M.Ed. in Educational Leadership as well as the Principal as Instructional Leader certification.
