This program is responsible for organizing and conducting professional development and technical support that facilitates students with disabilities gaining access to a curriculum and instruction based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in the least restrictive environment. This program also co-leads the Inclusive Practices for Improved Student Outcomes statewide leadership network.
The Inclusion in Texas Network is tasked with the challenge of creating and implementing a framework to institute systemic change that will enable LEAs to bridge the gap between the presence of students with disabilities in the regular education environment and meaningful participation and positive progress of those students. The System wide Inclusion Framework has been organized into three buckets of work: training and preparation, the cohort application and selection process, and conducting cohort specific trainings through summer institutes. In addition to this work, the Inclusion in Texas Network will continue to offer existing trainings and resources as well as maintaining the existing high quality website to TEA specifications.
