Keynote Presentation: "Recalibrate the Culture"

This year, our keynote will be presented by national speaker Jimmy Casas.

Keynote description:

Do you leave work every night exhausted from putting out fires all day long? Are you frustrated because you find yourself dealing with the same issues time and time again? You are not alone.

It is time to recalibrate. Recalibrate our why. Our work. Our values. Ourselves. Educators must explore their inner selves to understand the role we each play in how we can impact the climate and culture of an entire campus when we are strategic and aligned in our practices. The classroom, building, and district levels must see themselves as one and must be intentional in replicating their processes, protocols, and frameworks to recalibrate and bring about system-wide change and cultivate a healthier culture.

Participants will leave this session with a renewed understanding of the importance of effective processes and practical tools they can utilize immediately to cultivate a healthier culture for all members of their school community.

Keynote Presenter: Jimmy Casas

Jimmy Casas is the CEO of J Casas and Associates, an educational leadership company aimed at serving teachers, principals and superintendents in school districts across the country by providing high quality, practical and meaningful coaching support.
Jimmy served twenty-two years as a school leader. He is a best selling author, speaker, leadership coach, and a state and national award winning principal. Under Jimmy’s leadership, Bettendorf High School was named one of the best high schools in the country three times by Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report. JImmy was named the 2012 Iowa Principal of the Year and was runner-up NASSP 2013 National Principal of the Year. In 2014, Jimmy was invited to the White House to speak on the Future Ready Pledge. Finally, in 2015, he received the Bammy Award for the National Principal of the Year.

AEL training aims to

  • establish and sustain a campus mission and vision through goal setting and effective communication;
  • develop others through coaching, mentoring, conferencing, team building and conflict resolution;
  • examine the leader’s role in improving instruction by connecting curriculum, instruction, and assessments to student outcomes; and
  • collect and use multiple sources of data to create a positive school environment of learning and high achievement.
Upcoming Session Dates:

T-TESS: Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System

Completion of this 3-day training is one of the required steps to becoming a certified appraiser. During this training, participants will set a login and password to take an online certification test on their own. Participants must take and pass an online certification test annually.

This T-TESS (Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System Training Online) training is designed for field supervisors who support clinical teachers or internship teachers. The training is required for educator program field supervisors observing intern or clinical teachers. In this session, participants will learn effective coaching strategies, review the observation cycle, begin to understand the T-TESS rubric, and practice the collection of evidence.

T-PESS: Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System
