Early Childhood


Region 4 provides professional development, technical assistance, and materials to support the social, cognitive, adaptive, motor, and communicative needs of preschool-aged students.

Our services are designed for preschoolers with disabilities in both the general and special education classrooms and are available to Local Education Agencies (school districts and charter schools) and other community agencies (Early Childhood Intervention [ECI] and community preschools) to assist in the development and implementation of services and programs that meet federal, state, and local mandates for effective evaluation and appropriate intervention.



Services Offered

  • Professional development in appropriate evaluation techniques, instructional strategies, positive behavior supports, and inclusion opportunities for preschool children with disabilities.
  • Training in developmentally appropriate research-based strategies to support a child’s access to the general education curriculum (Prekindergarten Curriculum Guidelines).
  • Extensive projects for new teachers and experienced teachers in early childhood education.
  • Technical assistance in developing and implementing programs that provide services to children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.




Preschool Summer Institute
July 18–20, 2017

Attend this multi-day, multi-strand institute to learn research-based strategies to enhance learning and development of preschool children with disabilities. Information related to best practices and instructional techniques will be emphasized. Appropriate resources will be provided to support the training
