Assistive Technology

Region 4 provides professional development opportunities and technical assistance for districts and charter schools in the area of Assistive Technology. Professional development opportunities include:
  • District Program Evaluation of Assistive Technology Services
  • Customized and open enrollment training/workshops in the areas of assistive technology, which include but not limited to:    
    • Accessible Instructional Materials
    • Augmentative & Alternative Communication
    • Blind and VI Accommodations
    • Computer access
    • Consideration of AT in the IEP
    • Deaf & HOH accommodations
    • Device or software specific trainings
    • Educational applications
    • Environmental access
    • Implementation of AT in the school setting
    • Reading & Writing accommodations
    • Transitioning for AT users
  • Products and Services to aid districts with AT Solutions
  • District personnel can order 12 and 70 location PODD books from the Region 4 print shop print if they own Boardmaker and the PODD program—PODD Books Print Order Form.
Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN)

Region 4 and the Special Education Solutions department leads the state leadership network on Assistive Technology–Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN). To gain more information on this network, go to

The TATN hosts webinars throughout the year and a technology-based conference at Region 4 ESC every June.
